Xiaomi Mix 5 Rumors: A Potential 2025 Comeback with Cutting-Edge Tech

Xiaomi Mix 5

Xiaomi’s design-led Mix series, famous for leading the way with avant garde designs that have since become somewhat more mainstream, hasn’t been heard from since the Mix 4 launched in 2021. A new rumor claims the Mix 5 might revive the series in 2025. Dumping truckloads of cash at smartphone innovation Smartphone development is an incredibly quick moving space. According to the latest leaks from well-known leakers such as Digital Chat Station on China’s Weibo social network, Xiaomi is already in full swing preparing the Mix 5, with an improved under-display camera (UDC) configuration. The device, which can be found in the GSMA IMEI database with model number 2503AVP01C, is said to be releasing in China by March or April 2025, almost certainly around the same time as the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. Global availability looks like a long shot, with the company once again likely to limit the Mix 5 to the home market, as the Mix lineage has done since its debut with region-exclusive launches.

The Mix 5 should therefore arrive with a true bezel-less, full-screen AMOLED display as a canvas, utilizing next-gen UDC (Under Display Camera) tech that Digital Chat Station tipster claims is “at the highest level in the industry”, with “98.3721%” chance of going into mass production. In the wake of this UDC technology a growth of the Mix 4’s micro-drill pixel structure, to maintain 400PPI pixel density across the screen, the excellent of video digital camera, enhancement which has even debuted past criticism of sub-par graphic delivery and delivery is anticipated. Posts on X indicate increasing excitement for the reintroduction of this “invisible” camera technology, as early proponents on social media picture a smooth, uninterrupted, notch-free aesthetic. Color me a touch skeptical, since past UDC deployments from Xiaomi and competitors such as ZTE haven’t quite lived up to purpose-built front-facing cameras.

The Mix 5 will very likely pack a Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset, upwards of 12GB RAM and no less than 256GB in storage. It’s a scalpel of an all out flagship flagship. Last year’s 2022-released rumors tipped some of those pretty aspirational features, such as 200W fast charging and a 100MP telephoto camera, but all of these remain unconfirmed for the 2025 model year. A 2023 Mix 5 leak incorrectly identified a Red Magic 8 Pro as the Mix 5 – here’s why you should always be wary of third party images. Requirements not disclosed, but battery capacity estimated at ~4,500–6,000mAh. As far as software goes, I think we can safely assume that this device will run HyperOS 2.0 based on Android 15 with all the AI bells and whistles you see in the Xiaomi 15 series.

Early speculation on pricing starts at billion and goes up to million. Some initial estimates pegged an entry price of ₹59,336 (~$710) in India but others have cited ₹149,990 (~$1,790) for a 12GB/256GB variant though both numbers are speculative with the phone still having launched only in China so far. As these posts on X illustrate, that sense of cautious optimism is palpable, with fans of the brand once more dreaming of a larger battery and competitive price point, shy and skeptical of all the hyper-enthusiastic theorizing after the Mix 4’s exciting but lackluster introduction. There’s still uncertainty over whether the Mix 5 will actually reach production and not remain a prototype, as Xiaomi has axed Mix models before, most recently in 2022 when it moved interest towards the Xiaomi 12s Ultra.
