Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra Battery & Camera Details Leak Before 2026 Launch

While we wait in anticipation for the Samsung Galaxy S26 series, which is scheduled to launch in January 2026, new leaks have uncovered major information about the flagship Galaxy S26 Ultra’s battery and primary camera. Some fans will still lament the lack of major updates.

Battery Capacity: Same Size, Smarter Design

The Galaxy S26 Ultra will receive the same 5,000mAh battery capacity as its predecessor, the Galaxy S25 Ultra, and every Galaxy S Ultra since the S20 Ultra in 2020, according to reliable sources GalaxyClub and tipster Ice Universe. There’s a silver lining. Samsung is reportedly upping the energy density on the battery so the 5,000mAh can shrink in size. This potentially enables a thinner, lighter device without sacrificing battery life.

Ice Universe speculates that Samsung might revive faster charging, maybe 65W, which would be a significant increase over the S25 Ultra’s 45W charging. This upgrade could utilize new tech to maintain battery temperatures lower when charging, powering the S26 Ultra up to 100% in just 40-45 minutes, compared to the S25 Ultra’s ~60 minute full charge.

Still, even with those enhancements, remaining at a 5,000mAh battery has attracted criticism, as Xiaomi and other Chinese phone makers are gravitating toward 7,000-8,000mAh batteries supported by silicon-carbon technology. A few prior leaks had pointed to an S26 Ultra battery of 5,500mAh or maybe even 6,000mAh. New reports are claiming that Samsung is instead prioritizing thinness over capacity expansion.

Main camera: StayingAt 200MP

Galaxy S26 Ultra’s 200MP main sensor like S25 Ultra: camera leak We’re not sure if Samsung will introduce a fresh sensor or repurpose the existing one. Looking at it from GalaxyClub and SamMobile, they observe that while the resolution remains consistent, there is room for minor improvements in sensor technology and/or image processing.

This lack of a significant camera hardware upgrade has concerned fans, especially as rivals keep innovating in mobile photography. Past rumors had suggested either a 200MP dual-camera system or a new periscope telephoto lens, which recent leaks have discounted. Instead, Samsung appears to be doubling down in software and AI optimizations for photo taking.
