CMF Phone 2 Pro Review: A Premium Feeling Budget Phone

Hi! So, I got my hands on the CMF Phone 2 Pro, and let me tell u, this budget phone is turnin heads. Released on April 28, 2025, by Nothing's sub-brand CMF, it costs about ₹21,999 in India (approximately $279 in the US). For a phone that cheap, it pack a suprising punch. Lets jump in at what make this phone a next-gen contender.

A Design That Stands Out

The CMF Phone 2 Pro is a stunner. Its thin at 7.8mm and weighs only 185 grams, making it extremely comfortable to hold in your hand. The rear comes with a distinctive dual-tone finish—imagine frosted glass on the black and light green, sandstone on the white, or metallic on the orange. It feels much more premium than its price tag indicates. U still get those signature screws for an exchangeable back, but here's the twist: the module system isn't so flexible this time around. You can't exchange back panels with the CMF Phone 1, and taking the back off is more complicated because of glue and an IP54 rating for splash resistance. Nevertheless, the utilitarian, rugged aesthetic is appealing, and the new acessory lenses (fisheye and macro) inject some playfulness for creative users.

Display: Big and Beautiful

The 6.77-inch AMOLED display is a stunner. It's got a 120Hz refresh rate, so scrolling is buttery smooth, and Full HD+ resolution keep everything sharp. If u binge-watching shows or just browsing social media, the colors pop, and its bright enough for use outside. In comparison to the CMF Phone 1, the bezels is slightly thinner, making it look more modern. For less than $300, this display is a steal.

Cameras That Imp Press

The camera layout is where the CMF Phone 2 Pro truly shinet. Not like most cheap phones with unnecessary extra lenses, this phone have a real triple-camera setup:

50MP main sensor: Take crisp, colorfu images, even in good lightin.

50MP 2x telephoto: A novelty at this price point, ideal for zoomed portraits.

8MP ultrawide: Excellent for landscapes, though it struggle slightly in dim light.

I snaped some pics while on a sunset stroll, and the main camera treated colors beautiful. The telephoto lens brought crisp detail to distant objects, something unheard of in this range. Low-light images aint flagship-quality, but solid for everyday use. The 16MP front cam is adequate for selfies but nothin to write home about.

Performance: Smooth for Everyday Use

Driven by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Pro processor, the CMF Phone 2 Pro perform everyday tasks like a breeze. It has 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage (and a microSD card slot—yes, indeed!). Apps launch fast, multitasking is a breeze, and it even play games like BGMI at 120fps. I played some less demanding games, and it remained cool and silky smooth. Heavy games like Genshin Impact? U require low settings for smooth performance, but its great for a budget phone. With Nothing OS 3.1 on Android 15, the software is clean and responsive, with neat AI features such as Essential Space for organizing notes and screenshots.

Battery Life That Keeps Up

The 5,000mAh battery is a beast. I managed to get around 6 hours of screen time with social media, calls, and some gamin, lasting an entire day easy. Heavy users may require a top-up by evenin, but the bundled 33W charger (in India) charges it up in around an hour. It even supports 5W reverse charging, which is a nice touch for chargin earbuds on the move.

What's Not So Great?

No phone is flawless, especially at this cost. The modular design stepped back—less swappable acessories and a more difficult-to-remove back panel. If u enjoyed the Lego-like feel of the CMF Phone 1, this may disappoint. Also, software updates is capped at three years of Android updates and six years of security patchs. That's good but fall behind Google's Pixel 9a, which provide longer support. Finally, US consumers may experience band support and acessory availability issues, so best suited for Europe and India.

Why It's a Next-Gen Budget King

The CMF Phone 2 Pro ain't just a sequel—its a bold upgrade. The triple-camera system, vibrant display, and sleek design make it feel like a phone twice it's price. Throw in NFC for tap-and-go payments, a streamlined software experience, and good battery life, and you've got a winner. It not perfect, but at ₹21,999, it's hard to beat. If u lookin for a cheap phone that dont feel cheap, this is it. What u think—would u pick one up?
