Flip the Future: Motorola Razr Ultra 2025 Redefines Premium in the Foldable Era

Motorola Razr Ultra 2025

Motorola introduced its 2025 Razr portfolio, led by the headline-grabbing Motorola Razr Ultra (2025) during its April 24, 2025 “Make It Iconic” event in New York City. Marketed as the most powerful and fastest-charging flip phone ever, the Razr Ultra (2025) — called the Razr 60 Ultra in markets such as India — began taking pre-orders May 7, reached stores in the U.S on May 15, followed by Canada on June 3 and India on May 13. With a price tag of $1,299.99 for the 16GB/512GB config in the U.S. and £1,099.99 (~₹1,24,900) in the U.K., it certainly carries a premium compared to its brethren, the Razr (2025) at $699.99 and Razr Plus (2025) at $999.99, which is fitting considering its flagship level specs and distinct finishes.

The Razr Ultra (2025) features a 7-inch, 165Hz refresh rate 4,500 nits peak brightness Super HD LTPO AMOLED internal display with HDR10+ and Dolby Vision support, along with a 4-inch, 3,000 nits, 165Hz pOLED external display. Both screens are Pantone Validated for true-to-life colors, a first for any flip phone, and the external display features Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic for 10X improved drop performance. Fueled by the 3nm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, it offers a 45% CPU and 40% GPU performance increase from its predecessor, boasting 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and as much as 1TB UFS 4.1 storage. As expected, its 4,700mAh battery—the biggest in the lineup—supports 68W TurboPower charging (from a dead battery in 40 minutes!), 30W wireless charging, and 5W reverse wireless charging, beating out competition such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7.

Camera system including a 50MP OIS main sensor (f/1.8) + 50MP ultra-wide/macro lens + 50MP front camera Moto AI takes smartphone photography to new heights with Adaptive Stabilization, Group Shot and Signature Style, competing directly with Google Pixel’s AI photography features. The device features an AI Key for Moto AI features such as Next Move (contextual suggestions), Smart Connect (seamless device syncing), and Google Gemini Live. Smart Connect faces tough competition from Samsung DeX by mirroring a smartphone to STB & TVs or PC with the help of voice commands. The phone’s IP48 rating protects it from dust and water, while a titanium-reinforced hinge increases the smartphone’s durability by 35%.

Available in four Pantone colors—Rio Red, Scarab (green w/Alcantara), Mountain Trail (wood), and Cabaret (pink)—the Razr Ultra (2025) represents a new trend toward premium materials, including FSC-certified wood and Alcantara, to smartphones. X posts have generated a lot of excitement for its design ( folded-corners aesthetic aside ) and Snapdragon 8 Elite powered awesomeness, though users are understandably skeptical of its $1,300 price tag versus the $999 Razr Plus (2025), which uses a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 and doesn’t come with an AI Key.

The Razr Ultra (2025) is available unlocked at Best Buy, Amazon, and Motorola.com, with carrier support from Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T. Pre-order benefits include a free 1TB storage upgrade in select regions. With three years of OS updates and four years of bi-monthly security patches, the Pixel Fold stands against the Galaxy Z Flip 7 as a worthy competitor. The premium price and lack of a vlogging ultrawide lens might scare buyers away. To read more about Smart Command, head to Motorola’s corporate blog or TechRadar’s hands-on evaluation.
