Wacom Introduces MovinkPad Pro 14:The Premium All-in-One Tablet: Creator.

Wacom MovinkPad Pro 14

Wacom announced today the new portable creative tablet, the MovinkPad Pro 14, which is a huge improvement to its MovinkPad 11 predecessor and an indication of the company entering the fully standalone drawing device market.

The core of the new device is a 14-inch OLED display with 2880 x 1800-resolution, complete DCI-P3 and sRGB color space coverage, and a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz.  Wacom asserts that the OLED produces more blacks and contrast when compared to the conventional backlit LCDs.  The screen is covered with the Wacom "premium textured glass" to minimize reflections, fingerprints and glare, and the direct bonding minimizes the parallax between the tip of the pen and the screen.

The Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset with an Android 15 operating system and 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage powers the MovinkPad Pro 14.  The microSD expansion is also supported by the device.  The unit is slim (5.9 mm thick) and light (approximately 699 g), to be portable, and has a 10,000 mAh battery with a maximum of (up to) 10.5 hours of battery life.

The pen offering is Wacom Pro Pen 3, with 8,192 levels of pressure sensitivity, up to 60deg of tilt support and no battery needs due to EMR (electromagnetic resonance) technology.  Under its EMR standard, Wacom also supports compatibility with third party pens (e.g. Lamy, Staedtler).

Another interesting feature is the Wacom Lab, an inbuilt menu that is used in experimental purposes. Some include Instant Pen Display mode that allows the MovinkPad Pro 14 to be used as a wired or wireless pen display either when connected via a PC or Mac.  On the software side, the device builds upon the Quick drawing feature (immediate waking with pen tip), and develops the Canvas app of Wacom to support additional pen designs, multi-touch zoom, and a new shelf-like file-organization interface.  It is also packaged with Clip Studio Paint license (one-year DEBUT, three months EX) in order to get art workflows on the ground.

Wacom is positioning the MovinkPad Pro 14 as a creative device that eliminates the necessity of having a connected computer, but is able to be incorporated into desktop configurations where required.  The model will be released globally in the fall, and has a price of approximately $899 (or equivalent) through Wacom eStore and some retailers.
