Xiaomi Announces Redmi Book 14 and 16 2026 and the Battery and Chip Are Hard to Ignore

Xiaomi just announced the Redmi Book 14 and Redmi Book 16 for 2026 and there is quite a bit going on with these two. The headline is probly the battery, but the chip inside deserves just as much attention. Let me break it down.

Both models are running the Intel Core Ultra X7 358H, which is built on Intel's own 18A process and comes with 16 cores. The NPU inside that chip delivers up to 180 TOPS of AI performance, which puts it in the same conversation as the Qualcomm X Elite on raw compute numbers. Entry level configs with the Core Ultra 5 325 and 338H are also expected, which should bring the price down considerably from the top spec.

The graphics side is handled by integrated Arc B390 graphics with 12 Xe3 cores. Not a gaming chip but for productivity and light content work it should be more than enough. RAM is LPDDR5X at 9,600 MT/s, which is genuinly fast for this price tier. Most competing Windows laptops at this level are not shipping with memory speeds anywhere close to that. Up to 32 GB is available across both models.

Now the battery. The 16 inch model gets a 99Wh cell, which is about as large as you can put in a laptop without airlines having a problem with it. The 14 inch gets 92Wh with 90W fast charging. The claimed battery life for the 14 inch is 37 hours of local video playback. That is an extraordinary number and independent testing will tell us how close to reality it actully gets, but even at 60 to 70 percent of that claim you are looking at a laptop that doesn't need a charger for most working days.

One thing worth noting is that both models use LCD displays, not OLED. That is a deliberate choice to keep the Redmi line seperate from the more expensive Xiaomi Book Pro 14 above it, which does get an OLED panel. The Redmi Book 14 display runs at 2880 x 1800 with up to 500 nits brightness. The 16 inch does 2560 x 1600 at up to 400 nits. Both hit 120Hz. Not OLED but decent numbers for the price these are likely targeting.

Xiaomi also confirmed 90W reverse wired charging with PPS support on the 14 inch, meaning the laptop can charge other devices when needed. That is a useful feature to have on a machine with a battery this large.

The AI software features include a system level assistant, smart search, and remote power control where you can turn the device on or manage files from another device. These things tend to sound better on paper than they feel in real world use, so that one I will want to see tested properly before getting excited.

The launch is happening later in April 2026, alongside the Xiaomi K90 Max phone. Pricing has not been officially confirmed but based on where the Redmi line typically sits, sub 8000 yuan is the expectation for most configs. In Indian rupee terms the 16 inch model is expected somewhere in the 60,000 to 70,000 range.

The 37 hour battery claim alone will bring people to this page. Whether the real world experience lives up to it is the only question that actually matters at this point.
